The Baur family has been in Eguisheim since the early 18th century. In 1930, Albert Baur (1882-1942) bought the farmhouse that currently houses the facilities of the Charles Baur estate. In 1950, his son Charles Baur (1920-2001) started bottling and marketing the wine produced from his hectare of land. He gradually extended the estate, acquiring excellent vineyards in Eguisheim and the nearby area.

| 1950 : Charles Baur on the way back from the harvest |
| A meticulous and enterprising winegrower, Charles Baur transmitted his know-how to his son Armand (born in 1957), who took over the business in 1980 after obtaining a degree in oenology in the University of Dijon (Burgundy). During those years, the winegrowing estate was extended by Charles Baur and then by Armand Baur. They enlarged their cellars and modernised the winemaking equipment. Today, the Charles Baur estate covers 14 hectares of vines, processes its entire harvest, makes its own wine and markets it in France and overseas.
