I) The slopes of Eguisheim Predominantly limestone and clay, these slopes are medium to high in terms of steepness. Protected by the first foothills of the Vosges, there is little rainfall (less than 600 mm per year) which favours maturation and limits disease.
For many decades, the Charles Baur family owns vineyards located on the two classified Grands Crus areas of Eguisheim:
The Grand Cru Eichberg : Its soil is composed of clay and its subsoil is rich in sandstone, silica and limestone. Renowned since the Middle Ages, the wines produced from this grand cru are distinguished by their remarkable aromatic complexity. In this Grand Cru, the Charles Baur Estate cultivates 2.50 hectares of Riesling, Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer and Muscat.

- The Grand Cru Pfersigberg :
This wine slope is extremely rich in sandstone and clay, with very steep slopes and a well drained subsoil. Thanks to a direct south exposition, vines experience an optimum level of sunshine. In this Grand Cru, our family cultivates 1 hectare of Gewurztraminer.
In addition, certain exceptional terroirs such as Fronenberg bring a specific character to the grape variety.
The Fronenberg:
The Fronenberg is an East exposed terroir rich in sandstone and clay. The Fronenberg brings out all the aromatic complexity of the Gewurztraminer. In this remarkable area, the Charles Baur Estate cultivates 1 hectare of Gewurztraminer.
