Grand Cru Pfersigberg

This majestic terroir produces wine which are extremely aromatic and elegant and which, through their minerality, reveal the origins of the limestone soil in which the vines are grown.

Shielded from oceanic weather fluctuations by the Vosges mountains, the south-easterly exposure of the vines planted on the Pfersigberg ensures that they receive a very high concentration of sunlight.

The undersoil of this slope is composed of limestone pebbles – of the grey and very hard Muschelkalk variety together with the softer, yellow Jurassic or Dogger type. The topsoil emanating from this bedrock is rich in limestone marl which, in alliance with the clay elements therein, ensure satisfactory water retention.
